Antioxidant Rich Green Smoothie

I love smoothies! I love to experiment with throwing whatever fruit and sometimes veggies I have in the fridge or freezer into my recipes. Here’s a tasty green recipe with spinach, frozen banana, pineapple and green tea.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup brewed and cooled green tea
  • 3 frozen bananas
  • 2 cups spinach
  • 1/2 cup pineapple
  • 1 cup of ice
  • 1 cup of water
  • 1 slice of kiwi for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Brew green tea – I used my Keurig, made one cup and then put in freezer to cool while I got the rest together.  Brew this 20 minutes or more before making smoothie if possible.
  2. Break frozen bananas in half and put in blender
  3. Add spinach, pineapple and blend
  4. Wash, peel, and slice kiwi, cut several pieces as garnish.  You can put the rest in the blender
  5. Check green tea, if not yet cool cool over ice
  6. You can either strain off of ice or put ice in with it
  7. Blend well
  8. check consistency and add ice and water as needed to desired thickness
  9.  Pour into glasses and add kiwi garnish

Notes

Frozen banana:

  • My recommendation for best flavor is to freeze when the banana is starting to brown but not totally brown.  If you freeze when totally brown, mark the bag, and save those to thaw and make banana bread.
