Steakhouse Style Skillet Green Beans

Ingredients

  1. 1 pound of green beans, washed and trimmed
  2. 1 tablespoon garlic, coarsely minced
  3. 1 tablespoon of olive oil
  4. 1/2 teaspoon salt
  5. 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes

Instructions

  1. Put half an inch of water in the bottom of a 12 inch skillet and bring to a boil
  2. Add green beans, cover and steam for 5 minutes
  3. While that is going make an ice bath
  4. Drain green beans and drop in ice bath to blanch them, drain and let drip dry in colander
  5. In skillet add oil, garlic, and red pepper flake, saute 30 seconds
  6. Add green beans salting as you turn, mixing ingredients (tongs work great for this)
  7. Taste test and add more salt or seasoning as needed
