Hi, I’m Jennifer, and I’m so happy you are here. Growing up in the 80’s where there were 4 Jennifer’s in every classroom, I also answer to a variety of nicknames such as Jen, Jenny, or Ifer (a nickname reserved for use only by my younger brother as this is what he called me before he could say Jennifer :).
Some of my favorite memories growing up were making Christmas cookies with my mom, dad and brother. We’d spend all day in the kitchen prepping, cooking and decorating little scrumptious packages of cookies to share with friends and family. Mom and I would experiment with different frosting colors and cookie recipes and toppings, finally narrowing down to our favorites which will be included on this website.
That passion for baking expanded to cooking as I got older and now as a wife and working mother of 2 sweet but rambunctious boys, coming up with a variety of healthy, cost effective options that I can make quickly is a necessity.
I’ve had my share of finding incorrect recipes on the web and it ruining a meal. One example of which was the oregano pizza fiasco the first year my husband and I got married. My husband, good sport that he is, ate that awful pizza. The online recipe that I followed called for 2 tablespoons of oregano instead of what I think should have been 1/2 a teaspoon, but it is one of our funniest memories of a newlywed attempt at a meal gone wrong.
I’ve assembled all of our favorite recipes, all tested for accuracy by me and tested for flavor by my family and friends. You’ll find a wide variety of recipes, from classic comfort foods to healthy whole food plant based options. I am triple checking entry to make sure they are accurate and you don’t end up with your own oregano pizza experience.
We live in Texas in a metropolitan area with lots of restaurant options and I’ve traveled quite a bit. So I’ve included my copycat versions of my favorite restaurant meals which usually is focused on Tex-Mex cuisine but includes some international adaptations as well.
I’ve listed the recipe ingredients in the order in which the ingredients are added for ease of use. I’ll also list any steps requiring more than an hour at the top of the recipe so you know it’s not one you can make quickly for a meal intended immediately.
Thank you for visiting and I hope you find some recipes that become your new favorites and ones that you can share with your friends and family for years to come.
Best wishes,
Jennifer
