Simply Delicious Mashed Potatoes

Mashed potatoes are one of my husband’s absolute favorite foods. After trying many recipes, using half and half, whipping cream, and sour cream, I found milk tastes just as good as it’s less calories.

Simply Delicious Mashed Potatoes

Ingredients

  • 1.5 pounds red potatoes
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 cup of milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Wash and cut any visible bad spots or large eyes off potatoes
  2. Add potatoes to pot
  3. Cover with water and boil for 40 minutes or until tender
  4. Drain and set aside to cool for 30 minutes or more
  5. Cut into large dice for easier mashing
  6. Remove any skins that come off while slicing
  7. Melt butter in the stock pot
  8. Add potatoes, butter and salt
  9. Bring to a simmer
  10. Mash potatoes and continue simmering until liquid starts absorbing about 10 minutes
